A writer, educator, poet, and critic, David Huebert’s work has won the CBC Short Story Prize, The Walrus Poetry Prize, and was a National Magazine Award nominee in 2017 and 2018. David’s fiction debut, Peninsula Sinking, won the Jim Connors Dartmouth Book Award, was shortlisted for the Alistair MacLeod Short Fiction Prize, and was runner-up for the Danuta Gleed Literary Award. In fall 2020, he will publish his second book of poems, Humanimus. David’s work has appeared in magazines such as The Walrus, The New Quarterly, Maisonneuve, and Canadian Notes & Queries. In 2018, David completed his PhD at Western University. He has taught writing, literature, and environmental humanities at Western University, Dalhousie University, and King’s University College. David lives, writes, and teaches in Halifax, Nova Scotia, in Mi’kma’ki.
